Rlc. Akatsuka 50th Anniversary 'Volcano Queen' is a vigorous, show-stopping hybrid that rewards attentive growers with long-lasting, vividly colored blooms. Provide bright, filtered light—ideally 2,000–3,000 foot-candles; morning sun and strong east or bright west light are excellent. Maintain daytime temperatures of 70–85°F and nighttime drops to 58–65°F to encourage bud set and robust growth. Keep humidity between 50–70% with good air movement to prevent fungal problems.

Water thoroughly when the potting mix begins to dry but avoid waterlogging; allow the top one-third of the medium to dry between waterings. During active growth (spring and summer) water more frequently and fertilize every 1–2 weeks with a balanced orchid fertilizer at quarter to half strength; reduce to monthly applications in autumn and winter. Use a well-draining mix—coarse fir bark with some sphagnum or charcoal works well—to support healthy roots.
